:i found word "shi" have many different meanings.but how to differenciat the meaning

: 1、The basic meaning of “shi4是” is “be”( am,is are in English)
2、And also meas “yes, right / that’s true.”or “right, correct, true.”
3、When “Shi4是”in “ke3shi4可是”,“可是” meaning a “but” which may still “allow” the preceding statement. Other words for “but” refute or deny the preceding statement。Ke3 可 means “allow” and shi是 means “that” (rather than “is”).
4、When “Shi4是”in “huo4 xu3 shi4”or “ru2 guo3 shi4”,meaning peharpes…be…. or if… be….

:补充第四点 补充：4.When “Shi4是”in “或许是...huo4 xu3 shi4....”or“ 如果是...ru2 guo3 shi4”... has no meaning, just grammar phrase structure。
